Gagauz people, dispersed across different countries today, have the highest population concentration in the Gagauzia Autonomous Region in Moldova. While not officially supported by data, the second-largest population is believed to be in Bulgaria, with a significant population also residing in Greek territories. Turkish-speaking Gagauz people adhere to the Orthodox Christian faith, and written sources about them can only be found from the late 19th century onwards. The researchers have been intrigued by their linguistic and cultural ties to the Turks, coupled with their Orthodox faith, leading to numerous studies on this small community in recent years. Particularly, research conducted since the early 20th century reveals that Gagauz people have a deep-rooted history and cultural heritage. While most studies focus on Beserabya Gagauz, this work presents examples of folk medicine practices among Gagauz people who left Edirne and its surroundings in present-day Turkey, relocating to the Kumçiftliği (Orestiada) region in Greece due to developments in the first quarter of the 20th century. The data presented in the paper is derived from interviews conducted with Gagauz participants in the Kumçiftliği region between December 2, 2016, and February 16, 2020, within the context of folk culture.
