Rezumat

The deformed regions arising from the indentation of (001) planes of MgO are investigated by the highly localized cathodoluminscence (CL) mode in scanning electron microscopy. It is revealed that the CL spectra change continuously in moving away from the indentation center–an increase of the emission intensity in the visible range of spectrum takes place. It is concluded that such defects as F‐centers are mainly responsible for the CL emission; the microindentation process of MgO is mainly governed by dislocation plasticity.
