The role of acoustic rhinometry for pre- and postoperative
assessing in children with nasal septum deviation
Acoustic rhinometry has opened new perspectives in the objective estimation of nasal physiology. With this method it is easy to determine the geometry of the nasal cavities, using minimal resources. The method provides an objective review of cartilage and bone surgery of the nose.
The study was carried out on a group of 30 patients (children) who underwent surgery for septoplasty. In the postoperative period after restoration of nasal breathing, nasal geometry parameters were taken, using acoustic rhinometry. Data were compared with data up to surgery in order to determine restoration of nasal air passage, and to demonstrate the effectiveness of acoustic rhinometry in pre- and postoperative evaluation of children with nasal septum deviation. |
