The authors of the article pay special attention to the problem of stable development of society which gives an opportunity of adjusting economic and social conditions of development and muting the requirements of contemporary life without threatening further generations. Special importance lies in differences of aims and goals of stable development for dvanced countries, the countries in the transitional реriod and underdeveloped countries. Advanced countries are aimed at reasonable limitation of raw materials consumption in order for the coming generations to have an opportunity to use them as long as possible. The countries with the economies of transition are aimed at organizing irrational production structure, overcoming poverty and increasing living standards of реople, meeting requirement of population in health care, food and education.
