I n the article it is presented a portrait of Ion Vatamanu, a polyvalent personality of our social, cultural and scientific life. His activity is directed to the literary creativity (poetry, publicism, essay, universal poetry translations etc.) and science as well as tackling the problems in chemistry. The author of this article is first of all inclined to elucidate the scientific activity of Ion Vatamanu, the activity in chemistry which isn’t well-known to our society. Being the chief of a Laboratory (Electrochemical research methods), today (analytical chemistry), Ion Vatamanu was rewarded with a title of Doctor of chemistry. Here, in this Laboratory have been opened large horizons of utilizing the polarography in examination of different natural and industrial objects. Ion Vatamanu’s life 1937-1997 literary and scientific creative activity an example of a personality which devoted his life to his nation and selflessly did his duty.
