Background. Ovarian germ cell tumours (OGCT) are a type of ovarian neoplasm, that derived from primitive embryonic cells. In children it is 2/3 of all tumors and 30% of them are malignant. The goal. To present the role of histopathological examination in differentiating ovarian tumors in girls. Objective of the study. To present the role of histopathological examination in differentiating ovarian tumors in girls Material and Methods. During the last 10 years in CNSP of pediatric surgery "Acad. N. Gheorghiu" were hospitalized 9 patients with OGCT, 5 girls hospitalized urgently with suspicion of acute abdomen, 4 - planned, 2 of them with sendind diagnosis- abdominal tumor, other 2 -with renal polycystosis and dolicosigma. The development of the disease was 3 days - 1 year. Diagnostic techniques included abdominal ultrasound, Results. The own study shows that 67% were diagnosed with teratomas, which in 50% were located in the left ovary, in 33% - in the right ovary and in 17% bilaterally. In 33%, girls were under 10 years old, they had complications: torsion of uterine appendages with tumor, other 4 girls were 17 years old. The last 3 girls were diagnosed with malignant TOCG: endodermal sinus tumor in 2 cases and embryonal carcinoma in one case. One girl had a giant tumor with concretion in adjacent anatomical structures and in 2 girls multiple metastases were present during hospitalization. Conclusion. Ovarian teratomas are the most common types of OGCT. The presence of periodic moderate abdominal pain for a long time requires special studies, including imaging, to exclude ovarian tumors in girls. In all cases the treatment was surgical. |
