The history of Caravasile family presents the interest by the fact that the members of this dynasty are the founders of the small town Cahul. Both D.I.Caravasile, as well as his descendants have contributed to the prosperity of economic, social, political and cultural life of the city. The research of this family comes to complete the history of the city and the county of Cahul. Unfortunately, because of the lack of specialized literature, even the native inhabitatnts of town Cahul cannot tell too much about Caravasile family. This family is mentioned in few words in the works referring to the moment of passing of the three counties ismail, Bolgrad and cahul under Romanian administration in 1856. It is unjust that one of the most representative families in Cahul and in southern Bessarabia remains in the shadows. It should be necessarily mentioned the fact that no complete works were written about Caravasile family; their names appear only in the context of the theme about the history of Cahul. Bezviconi Gheorghe, the historian passionate about the evocation of many boyar families, who had a sincere affection for D. Caravasile şi D. Crăciunescu (member of the same family), and for their descendants, will be the first to mention the name of their family in his work „Din trecutul nostru”. But with the capitalization of archives funds from Iasi and later in the National Archives in Moldova, will come out numerous dossiers and materials which prove the family involvement and its contribution to the development of town Cahul and Bessarabia. As for the descendants of this family since 2000, the collaborators of Cahul History Museum were concerned with this family. They organized an exhibition in 2001 dedicated to this family where presented a number of documents, archival materials and numerous photos from the personal archives which were kept by the family descendants. Later, in 2003, a series of articles were published covering Caravasile family from different perspectives. The evolutionary history of this family is researched both within Cahul limits asa well as of those descendants, eho for their personal reasons or in most cases, for the political ones were forced to take refuge in other countries.
