Background. Multiple sclerosis is the most common non-traumatic neurological disorder among young adults (15-40 years), women having a higher risk of developing it. It is characterized by a process of demyelination, but its etiology remains unknown. In Moldova the incidence of multiple sclerosis is 21:100000. Objective of the study. The study of the clinical and paraclinical manifestations of multiple sclerosis. Material and Methods. Studying the consultation sheets of a group of patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, aged between 20 and 31 years. Results. After comparing the clinical manifestations of multiple sclerosis, it was revealed that all patients presented optic neuritis, numbness of the lower limb, migraines, dizziness and unsteady gait. Some patients report general fatigue that worsens after long periods of standing and numbness of the upper limb and lumbar area. Through the study of paraclinical manifestations supra- and infratentorial demyelination plaques, with a tendency to converge, were noticed by MRI tomography in all patients and, additionally, intramedullary centers in the cervico-dorsal region were also observed in some of them. Conclusion. Following the study it was proved that in patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis the most common symptoms are optic neuritis and limb numbness. Also, the most relevant method of investigation is computed tomography which indicates the presence of demyelination plaques. |
