In the last times, we have been working in of exploring the reactivity, structural and spectroscopic properties of metal complexes in sulphur-containing ligand environments. Herein, we report on the synthesis and structure of new Smethyldithiocarbazate Schiff base H3L (C14H12N2O3S2·C2H5OH) (1) and its copper (II) complexes with composition [Cu(H2L)X]·Solv, where X=Cl- (2) or Br- (3), and [Cu(HL)(Solv)] (4). The structures of organic ligand 1 and coordination compound 2 have been characterized by single X-ray analysis. The X-ray diffraction data confirm the formation of new ligand. The interatomic distances in 1 indicate the delocalization of the electron density of molecule. The planar arrangement of 1 in the crystal is stabilized by the intramolecular hydrogen bond between hydroxyl and carboxylic groups. These molecules are symmetrically dimerized in R2 2(8) synthons via N-H···S hydrogen bonds, where both molecules are involved as a donor and as an acceptor of protons. The X-ray study of 2 revealed that crystal is comprised of discrete molecular entities. The copper(II) atom in 2 is coordinated by ONS donor atoms set provided by phenolic oxygen, azomethine nitrogen and thiole sulfur of monodeprotonated H2Lligand. The fourth position of the square-planar environment of the metal ion is completed by Cl- anion. Except for deprotonation, the ligand undergoes to conformational changes associated with rotation around the single C13-N2 bond of hydrazine moiety. In the result of coordination in the complex 2 two five- and sixmembered metallocycles have been formed. The Cu-S, Cu-N, Cu-O distances are 2.24, 1.927 and 1.927 Å, respectively. Biologic properties of complexes 1-4 are in progress. 1 2 Figure. View of the supramolecular dimer in 1 and coordination compound 2 |
