There is presented data regarding the evolution of disability correlated with aspects of occupational medicine in this paper. According to global estimates in 2012 over a milliard people, 15 % of the world population, live with some form of disability. About two-thirds of people with disabilities live in developing countries and with transition economies. The number of disabled people in the country was 183 416 cases in 2013. The number of benefi ciaries of allowances is around 136 000 people, which represents on average 516 people per 10 000. Every sixth person with disability frames into the category of those with severe disabilities (0-20 % retained work ability). Each six out of ten people with disabilities is in the rural area. According to data from 2012, depending on the structure of the phenomenon of disability about 130.7 ‰ obtained disability because of sickness, 3.0 ‰ because of occupational diseases and work accidents, and 1.9 ‰ participated at the liquidation of the accident at Chernobyl. Disability is an increasingly pressing issue for Occupational Health Service caused by: aging of population, the risk of diseases related to occupational environment, increasing of the number of non-communicable diseases in the population of working age. Both services: Occupational Health Service (OHS) and the Work Disability Determination Service (WDDS) are currently reforming, strengthening and consolidating. In order to achieve the goal of increasing the quality of the system, the collaboration between SDDCM and SSO, fi nding common tangents in medical rehabilitation, professional, social and reinstatement of people in occupational environment, are needed. |
