Reviewing Alexandru Boldur’s fundamental works, you can note its intrinsic peculiarity – impartiality supported by non-tendentiousness and solidity of information. In fact, the very subject of his research, which largely remains constant – Bessarabia, makes you to treat him as a spokesman of historical determination. However, avoiding the frames of false interpretation and reference, Al. Boldur, in his complex works Romanian Bessarabia and Contributions to the history of Bessarabia, gives a quite comprehensive description from the point of view of image and information of the premises that have led and followed the «abduction» of the country: the tangents and the spiritual differences between the culture of the Empire and the province; he denies the opinions that at the time of Union, Bessarabia was denationalized, although he agrees to the issue of national degradation. The historian also contributes to the elucidation of the status of the Romanian language during the period which lasted more than one hundred years, when the people between the Prut and the Dniester underwent spiritual bondage. In the same vein, the researcher explains why the clergy, in his great majority, remained faithful to the national language, analyzing simultaneously the contribution and the importance of mass media, the editorial domain and the activity of Bessarabian men of letters. |
