Evoluția conceptelor de “femeie” și “bărbat” își are originea sa adânc în istoria dezvoltării omenirii. Percepția separată a rolului femeii și cel al bărbatului, precum și a funcțiilor atribuite acestora, au suferit modificări cardinale pe parcursul istoriei, a trecerii de la matriarhat la patriarhat, de la patriarhalismul sexist la egalitarismul contemporan. Caracteristicile generale care sunt distincte pentru perioadele respective pot fi definite prin percepția, rolul și atribuțiile biofiziologice, psihosociale și familiale ale membrilor unei societăți. În perioada matriarhală, bărbatul are rolul de supunere, pe când în perioada patriarhală apare o evidentă dominație masculină, bărbatul fiind capul familiei și al întregii comunități. În perioada noastră, unde vine vorba de egalitate între sexe, apare conflictul între specificitățile conceptuale patriarhaliste, instaurate în timp, și noile viziuni asupra conceptelor de “femeie” și „bărbat”. În lucrarea de față încercăm să determinăm modul în care percep femeile, în epoca noastră, rolul biofiziologic, social, familial și cel financiar al bărbatului. Este o analiză bazată pe cercetări empirice realizate pe un eșantion compus din 70 de femei din Republica Moldova.

The evolution of the “women” and “men” concepts has its origins deep in the history of humanity development. The separate perception of the woman and man’s role, the same as the functions that are assigned to them, had undergone some cardinal changes throughout history, from the Matriarchal to Patriarchal system, and from the Patriarchate to Sexism and Gender Equality. The general characteristics that are being specific for these periods of time can be defined through concepts like perception, role and physiological and psychosocial attributions of the society members. In the Matriarchal period, man had the submissive role; on the other hand, during the Patriarchal period we can talk about male domination, man being the head of the family and of the whole community. Nowadays, we are talking about Gender Equality and the conflict that appears between the patriarchal conceptual specifics, established over time, and the new vision on the “woman” and “man” concepts. In this article, we are trying to determine the way the man’s role is being perceived by women today. It is an analysis based on empirical research on a sample composed of 70 women from The Republic of Moldova.
