The article presents the results of a study focused on preparation of the national greenhouse gas inventory of anthropogenic emissions by sources and removals by sinks of all greenhouse gases not
controlled by the Montreal Protocol and greenhouse gas precursors during the 1990-2005 period, for being included into the Second National Communication (SNC) of the Republic of Moldova under the
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The methodologies used are based on the Good Practice Guidance for Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry (IPCC, 2003) and IPCC 2006 Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (IPCC, 2006). The obtained results for the LULUCF sector revealed that during the 1990-2005, the net CO2 removals have reduced by 17,6%, from la -1676,5 Gg la -1676,5 Gg CO2 to -1381,4 Gg CO -1381,4 Gg CO2, while the total emissions of other gases with direct while the total emissions of other gases with direct greenhouse effect (CH4 and N2O) originated from vegetation fires under the 5A1”Forest Land Remaining Forest Land” and 5B1 Cropland remaining cropland” have reduced within the period by 89,5%, from 3,29 Gg CO2 equivalent to 0,35 Gg CO2 equivalent. The study has been realised in the frame of the GEF-UNEP Project Republic of Moldova: Enabling Activities for the preparation of the SNC under Republic of Moldova: Enabling Activities for the preparation of the SNC under the UNFCCC”. |
