The Bâc River is an affl uent of the Nistru River, starting its course in Codrii and fl owing through the central part of Moldova. The fact that the Bâc River crosses Chişinau contributes to a high level pollution of its waters. The residual waters released from the treatment plant fl ow into the river and account for an evident modifi cation of the river’s algal fl ora. During the research conducted in the years 2009-2010 within this segment of the Bâc River, about
156 species and intraspecifi c diferecences of algae belonging to fi ve phyla, i. e. Chlorophyta (66 species), acillariophyta (39), Cyanophyta – (38), Euglenophyta (10), and Xanthophyta
(3) have been found. One hundred and three species were detected in 2009, while the species diversity mounted up to one hundred and twenty one in 2010 |
