Climatic reconstruction for the Lower Nistru watershed in the Holocene. The reconstruction is based on the palynological investigations of some geological sections. The average annual, July and January temperatures and annual precipitation
data were determined and coordinated with the C14 time scale. The steady warming of the climate is distinguished for the Boreal - late Atlantic period. During the Boreal period, the average July temperature was 10C, January, 20C, annual, 10-20C lower, and the annual precipitation was 25 mm higher than those nowadays. At the beginning of the Atlantic period, the average annual, July and January temperatures were 0.50C
higher, and the precipitation was 25 mm lower than those nowadays. The warmest climate on the territory under investigation was connected with the thermal maximum in late Atlantic and middle Sub Boreal times. The late Atlantic period is characterized in Sub Atlantic period by warming, with annual average, July and January temperatures 10C higher, and precipitation 25 mm lower than those nowadays. A general tendency to cooling from the late Atlantic period until now may be observed. The climate became cooler at the end of the Atlantic and the beginning of the Sub Boreal time. The
average July temperature was 10 – 1.50C, January, 20C and annual, 1.50-20C lower, and precipitation was 75 mm higher than those nowadays. Four warm and the same number of cold peaks (among them “small glacial epochs”) are distinguished in the Sub Atlantic climate record. |
