The research process of literary history is based on a wide range of methods and tools. Thanks to these, theorists, critics, and literary historians reveal the profound meanings of literary works from all times. Scientific research methods help apply an organized and logical mode of thinking and action, which can contribute to obtaining desired results and dispelling certain speculations by the researcher. Organizing literary texts according to certain methodological principles is essential, as it can outline connections between literary works and describe their cultural context. In this article, we aimed to observe the approach to researching the contemporary Romanian literary history by Mihai Iovănel, in which he applies analytical, hermeneutic, and historical methods. We also mentioned critic Ion Vlad’s perspective on the role of comparative research promoted by Romanian literary critic Dumitru Popovici.
