Armenii, stabiliţi cu traiul din timpuri mai îndepărtate sau ceva mai apropiate în spaţiile moldav şi polon, au manifestat un spirit de întreprinzători în domeniul meşteşugăritului şi al comerţului. Negustorii armeni au jucat un rol important în cadrul raporturilor economice moldo-polone din a doua jumătate a secolului al XVIII-lea, contribuind, de asemenea, în mod direct şi la formarea burgheziei în Ţara Moldovei şi în Polonia. Fluctuaţiile de ordin politic şi militar nu au putut împiedica schimburile comerciale moldo-polone, realizate în mare parte de negustorii armeni. Comercianţii armeni au practicat atât relaţiile de schimb bilaterale, cât şi comerţul de tranzit, ceea ce le-a creat o imagine de producători ai unor mărfuri orientale, numite de occidentali „mărfuri armeneşti”. Atitudinea domnilor Ţării Moldovei faţă de negustorii armeni a fost tolerantă şi binevoitoare. Autorităţile poloneze le-au acordat negustorilor armeni azil şi protecţie juridică.

Armenians, established to live from more distant times or something closer to the Moldovan and Polish spaces showed an entrepreneurial spirit in the field of handicrafts and trade. Armenian merchants played an important role in the Moldovan-Polish economic relations in the second half of the eighteenth century, also contributing directly to the formation of the bourgeoisie in Moldova and Poland. The fluctuations in the political and military area could not prevent the Moldovan-Polish trade, made mostly of Armenian merchants. Armenian merchants have practiced both bilateral trade relations and transit trade, which has created an image of oriental goods producer, known by Westerners as „Armenian goods”. The attitude of rulers of Moldova to the Armenian merchants was tolerant and favourably inclined. Polish authorities have granted asylum and legal protection to Armenian merchants.
