Rezumat

The European Strategy builds on the results of the previous Strategy (2010-2020), which paved the way to a barrier-free Europe and to empower persons with disabilities so they can participate fully in society and economy. Despite the progress made in the past decade, persons with disabilities still face considerable barriers and have a higher risk of poverty and social exclusion. This presentation aims to discuss some of the most significant statistics related to people with disabilities in the European Union, elaborate the progress achieved during the last decade and set the baseline for the current decade according to the aims of the European Strategy for the rights of persons with disabilities.
