Treatment of patients with infantile and juvenile scoliosis represents the extremely actual problem for orthopedists.
Till now there are discussed questions about forecasting of a current scoliosis, optimum age of the beginning and ways
of surgical treatment of heavy spine deformations at children in active growth period (5-12 years). Before the growth
termination quantity of stage correlate operations can make – 5-7.
Background: For the purpose of increase of surgical treatment effi ciency and reduction of quantity necessary stage
surgical operations, the device is developed and introduced. Its elements slide on central rod and the device “grows”
together with a child backbone. Using of this dynamic device («a sliding construction»), allows to avoid defects of existing
systems and to reduce quantity corrections to 1-2.
Material and Methods: In Clinic of Vertebrology, Orthopedics and Traumatology in Scientifi cally-practical Center
of Children’s Surgery «Academician Natalia Georgiu», during the period with 2005 for 2010, 11 children at the age
from 5 till 12 years are operated. For correction of deformation at these children the offered “growing” polysegmentary
construction was used.
Results: Results of surgical treatment have been traced from 1 till 5 years. Using of a polysegmentary ”growth”
construction at patients has allowed receiving correction from 42 to 78 % of primary deformation size.
Conclusions: Realization of this technology of stabilization and correction of spine deformation at growing patients
has allowed to expand a range of rehabilitation actions and to improve social adaptation of these category children. |
