Rezumat

In order to argue the measures and technologies to mitigate the impact of drought on sunflower fruit in the Republic of Moldova, the drought of 2020 and its impact on sunflower productivity were analyzed. From a meteorological point of view, the year 2020 on the territory of the Republic of Moldova was manifested by a very high thermal regime of the air and an annual amount of precipitation below the norm, distributed very unevenly in time and space. The average annual air temperature in the territory was +10.7 .. + 13.1ºС, exceeding the norm by 2.6-3.7ºС and is signaled for the first time in the whole period of instrumental observations. The annual amount of precipitation falling on the territory of the country was basically 355-615 mm, or 70-105% of the norm. The very high thermal regime and the significant deficit of precipitation, reported on the territory of the Republic of Moldova during March-April and July-September 2020, determined the establishment of atmospheric drought and, respectively - of pedological drought. The water requirement of agricultural plants, in the conditions of the Republic of Moldova, is satisfied by the precipitation in wet years by 74-100%, in years with average humidity - by 42-85%, and in dry years only by only 11-58%. The degree of water supply of the seedlings substantially influences the obtaining of high and stable yields of agricultural crops. Optimizing the water supply of plants throughout the growing season is possible only by the correct choice of irrigation methods, techniques and equipment..
