Rezumat | ||||||
The concept of food security has evolved dynamically over time, expanding its meanings and connections, so that today, in the broadest sense, it encompasses all aspects that allow the population optimal access to food. Within the global concerns for food security, the concept of sustainable agri-food development has been formulated relatively recently, as being inextricably linked to the process of global development. Food safety is an important public issue, as foodborne illness is caused by foodborne agents, which can be bacteria, viruses, parasites, or chemicals.After obtaining genetically modified organisms, for the benefit of farmers and food producers (generation I of genetically modified foods), genetic engineering techniques (transgenesis) were used to modify the nutritional qualities of foods.The diversity of genetically modified organisms, used as food sources, belongs to the plant world. |
