This article is devoted to the difficulties in translation of the word ‚that’ in the English complex sentences. this word has many functions in a sentence. But the greatest difficulty appears when we meet two, three or even more words ‚that’ in complex sentences.While analyzing complex sentences we follow the system proposed by professor A.Smirnitsky who divided all complex sentences according to the parts of a sentence. We analyze these very sentences because all of them have in their structure the word ‚that’ that connects the principle clause with the subordinate one.Sometimes the omission of the word ‚that’ causes the confusion. that’s why the grammar analysis of the sentence is very important. the zero’that-clause’ is particularly common when the clause is brief and uncomplicated. In contrast, the need for clarity discourages or even forbids the omission of ‚that’ in complex sentences loaded with adverbials and modifications. Any parenthetical material between the verb of the principle clause and the subject of ‚that-clause’ is especially likely to inhibit deletion. Analyzing proverbs with the word ‚that’ we can say that only classifying attributive clauses can be used in proverbs with the word‚that’.

Articolul este dedicat dificultăţilor în traducere a cuvântului ‚that’ în propoziţiile engleze compuse prin subordonare. Acest cuvânt are multe funcţii în propoziţie. cea mai mare dificultate apare când într-o propoziţie compusă prin subordonare sunt două, trei sau mai mult cuvinte ‚that’. Analizând propoziţiile compuse prin subordonare noi vom urma sistema propusă de prof. A. Smirniţky care a divizat toate subordonatele conform părţilor de propoziţie. vom analiza anume aceste propoziţii deoarece toate din ele au în structura sa cuvântul ‚that’ ce leagă propoziţia principală de regentă. Uneori omiterea cuvântului ‚that’ cauzează dificultăţi. Pentru a le înlătura, analiza gramaticală este foarte importantă. Legătura asyndetică (cu omiterea) conjuncţiei „that” este în particular caracteristică pentru fraze scurte şi necomplicate. Pentru a obţine claritate în propoziţiile cu multe subordonate omiterea conjuncţiei „that” este inadmisibilă şi uneori interzisă. Orice informaţie parantetică intercalată între verbul propoziţiei principale şi subiectul „that” al subordonatei, în mod special pare să inhileze. Reeşind din analiza proverbelor putem conclude că doar în propoziţiile atributive (de clasificare) cuvântului „that” poate fi folosit.
