By Decision of April 5, 1900 of the Synod of St. Petersburg of the Orthodox Brotherhood „Birth of Christ” in Chisinau was allowed the publication of books, brochures and filaments, with moral-spiritual content, with Russian-Romanian bilingual text. The fraternity started publishing the series, with a circulation of 5,100 copies, some 6,000, 10,000 or 15,000 copies. There were small pamphlets of 4, 6, or 8 pages each, with various teachings of faith, speeches, lives of saints, and more. By 1916, 629 issues had appeared, to which were added another 90 additional issues between 1906 and 1915. The fraternity argues the need for the appearance of these files: „The editing of these bilingual missionary bulletins comes in the desire to satisfy the request of Bessarabian Moldovans, who do not know Russian.” Indeed, the lack of spiritual literature, service books and sermons in Romanian contributed to the removal of the parishioners, which favored the emergence of the schismatic current of innocence. Innocentie de la Balta attracts hundreds of Bessarabians, because he speaks Romanian and understood by ordinary people. In addition to weekly sermons, Christian parishioners and believers could order or procure directly from the publishing house and other sheets with missionary-catechetical content: sermons on every Sunday of the year, about drunkenness, about swearing and other passions, how to spend Christian holidays in Christian, about prayer, about the remembrance of the sleeping, about the sign of the cross and crucifixion, about the Mother of God and angels, about the holy mysteries and much more. The prodigious work in the catechesis and guidance of Bessarabian Christians was carried out with much perseverance by the famous leaders of the Bessarabian Church, who met in a special Commission. |
