Rezumat

Ungheni City has a promising potential, having many fascinating objects that could easily attract tourists from the country and from abroad. One of the main tourist attractions that highlights the great heritage of the city is the Bridge appointed „Eiffel”. It is the construction that makes possible the railway link over the Prut River between Ungheni and Iasi. The need to build a durable bridge over the Prut River was laid down in the Romanian-Russian Convention signed on 6/18 May 1872 in Bucharest, which provided the junction of the Russian railways with the Romanian ones. In 1876 in Ungheni came Gustave Eiffel, who analyzes the soil and projects the iron bridge. Even in the spring of the same year, the construction of the bridge began. After approximately one year the bridge is put into operation (April 21, 1877). The struggle to build this bridge as quickly as possible implies that the Russian Empire needed it very much. That's why, three days after its inauguration, the Russian Empire declared war on the Ottoman Empire. From the beginning the Ungheni bridge is used as a good strategic point for the Russian Empire. Today, the railway bridge in Ungheni is in good condition, currently it is used for trains, passengers, freight. It requires only investing at a territorial administrative level, such as setting up the French park and liberating access to the bridge. This could be an educational objective for heritage and tourist attraction.
