Rezumat

Our country has a considerable importance among the maize cultivating countries. The surfaces cultivated have been thus: over 2525.8 thousand ha in 2007, 2449.5 thousand ha in 2008 and 2344.9 thousand ha in 2009, reaching an average yield of 1526 kg/ha in 2007, 3213 kg/ha in 2008 and 3406 kg/ha in 2009. According to the data published by MADR4, in 2010, maize was cultivated on 2108.7 thousand ha in Romania, with an average production of 4297 kg/ha.
