Rezumat

Coordination compounds of transition metals are actively involved in the processes of formation of tribochemical lubricant layers on friction surfaces [1]. A number of metal complexes, which are effective additives to oils and greases, are known [2-5]. In this paper we investigated the influence of the structure and chemical composition of the coordination compounds of 3d-transition metals with azomethine ligands, shown below, formulaon the lubricating characteristics of the medium, as well as the formation of the lubricating layer in the process of friction. The friction surfaces after the tests in the medium of polyorganosiloxanes and esters were studied by optical and scanning microscopy, infrared spectroscopy using RFA and other methods. The results showed that the transition metal film and the tribopolymer film containing nanoparticles of the transition metals are formed on the friction surfaces.
