SIBIMOL is a working platform developed to integrate the entire network of libraries (public, academic, school, special, etc.) and info documentary institutions (museums, archives, institutes, foundations) at the national level. The stage of preparation, foundation and definition of the project took place during the years 1994 – 2005. The existing similar systems were studied worldwide, and new ideas and concepts were used in the process of developing a coherent project, tailored to local needs. In November 2004 there was an open tender for the development of the SIBIMOL, won by the Romanian company EMI. On September 28, 2008 the working platform of the SIBIMOL system was officially launched. In order to connect to this central system, the libraries in Moldova must meet certain minimum technical requirements, and namely – to update their software systems, to equip with appropriate hardware, to train their staff, etc. The connection of the libraries and other infodocumentary institutions to the SIBIMOL system would ensure a greater amount of critical information available to readers, the betterment of their professional training, a higher degree of reading index, the modernization of the services provided by libraries, and significant financial savings due to elimination of redundant processing (at present a publication is processed by each library, because the online exchange, i.e. an interactive exchange of data is impossible, while with the help of the SIBIMOL the processing will run in cooperative manner, nationwide). SIBIMOL reprezintă platforma de lucru dezvoltată pentru a integra la nivel național оntreaga rețea de biblioteci (publice, universitare, școlare, specializate etc) și instituții infodocumentare (muzee, arhive, institute, fundații). Etapa de pregătire, fundamentare și definire a proiectului s-a derulat pe parcursul anilor 1994 – 2005 prin cercetarea sistemelor similare existente pe plan mondial, prin includerea de idei și concepte noi și elaborarea unui proiect coerent, adaptat cerințelor locale. Оn noiembrie 2004 a avut loc licitația deschisă pentru dezvoltarea sistemului SIBIMOL, cвștigată de firma IME Romвnia. Оn data de 28 septembrie 2008 a fost lansată oficial platforma de lucru a sistemului SIBIMOL. Оn vederea conectării la acest sistem central bibliotecile din Republica Moldova trebuie să оndeplinească unele cerințe tehnice minimale care presupun actualizarea sistemelor software, echiparea cu hardware adecvat, instruirea personalului și alte activități conexe. Din păcate pвnă la această dată bibliotecile nu au avut disponibile sumele necesare pentru a putea efectua integrarea și inter-conectarea оn SIBIMOL, astfel la această dată sistemul este folosit de un număr foarte restrвns de utilizatori.
