Rezumat

This report is based on the analysis of the data collected within the study” Generations and Gender” conducted in 2020, at the request of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, by the United Nations Population Fund, in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and the National Bureau of Statistics. The conducted analysis reveal that low income and lack of living conditions represents the barriers to family life of the persons with disabilities. Demographic forecasts show an aging process of the population, including in families where both partners are with disabilities. The current system of social services does not respond to all the needs of these families who have members-persons with disabilities. Parents with disabilities have fewer opportunities to access care and educational support services for their children. Families in which at least one partner is with disabilities have a lower level of material and psycho-emotional well-being, than families without partners with disabilities.
