Rezumat

The species of the genus Monarda L. (monarda) are perennial herbaceous plants of the Lamiaceae family. In the world flora, the genus Monarda is represented by more than 20 species, whose homeland is North America (mainly the southern and central part of the USA, as well as Canada). For the first time, data are presented on the chemical composition of the essential oil of Monarda fistulosa cultivated in the agrobiological station of the State University of Moldova. To obtain the essential oil we used flowering shoots with leaves from the second year of life, which were cut, dried before distillation at the end of July 2023 in the phase of mass flowering. Up to 40 components were detected by chromatography-mass spectrometry, of which 30 substances were identified, which constitute 95–99% of the total oil. Considering the high content of thymol (56.3%) and linalool (20.6%) in the essential oil of Monarda fistulosa L, we can recommend this species, which are not components of the internal flora, for further studies as promising oil carriers essential in the Republic of Moldova.
