Rezumat | ||||||
The well-known Russian architect Alexei Shciusev was born in Chisinau, studied in his hometown, then in the capital of the Tsarist Empire, St. Petersburg. He traveled to Italy, France, Great Britain, where he studied and painted representative buildings and monuments. In tsarist Russia it was highly valued. A. Shciusev welcomed the Bolshevik coup, sided with the Soviets and successfully promoted modernism in Soviet architecture. In 1932 the dictator Stalin intervened in the architects’ guild, imposing the imperial style with elements of Russian classicism. A. Sciusev quickly noticed the new tastes of state power and accepted subordination. A. Sciusev established himself through many projects, including the Lenin Mausoleum; he was the laureate of four “Stalin” awards. A. Șciusev presented himself in Chişinău with these concepts about the construction of cities and the construction of buildings, proposing a plan to restore the city center. One part of the plan was carried out, another part was not. |
