Education must “enable everyone, without exception, to take their destiny into their own hands and contribute to the progress of the society in which they live, thus basing development on the responsible participation of individuals and communities. The development of the child's self-image starts from the first years of the child's life, being closely dependent on the knowledge of his person and his own value. Stories, tales, fairy tales are inexhaustible sources of moral teachings, of ways of analyzing good and evil, of the self, of self-knowledge, of self-image. During the age of 6-12 years old, when skills are acquired mainly in school, the process of developing diligence takes place, but also the experience of inferiority if the child cannot meet the requirements of the imposed diligence. Now the social comparison appears, and if the parents and the teacher do not approach this aspect properly, there is a risk of developing the child's feeling of inferiority. Within the optional subject Read and know yourself !, the teachers will use a specially designed auxiliary, created starting from the hypothesis that if appropriate methods are applied to literary-artistic education to form the self-image of primary school students in the process of receiving the literary text , then the quality of self-image will be better. The Romanian language has a remarkable contribution to the cultivation of selected moral-civic qualities among schoolchildren through its entire content, especially through the content of reading texts, through the theme of speech development and composition activities. The auxiliary, conceived as a collection of literary texts from children's literature, will be structured in four parts, which will develop themes designed to form the self-image of primary school students in the process of receiving the literary text. There will be personality tests, role-playing games, teaching games, questions, in order to contribute to the development of students' vision of the world, through the real self, the unreal self, the future self.
