Rezumat

The aim of our study was to elaborate and experimentally test the program for the development of ethno-cultural competence and ethnic tolerance of Gagauz and Bulgarians students with the ethnic identity issue. In our research, on development of ethno-cultural competence and ethnic tolerance of Gagauz and Bulgarians students, we supposed that the development of ethno-cultural competence and ethnic tolerance of students was possible through/by means of their involvement/inclusion in special organized training group, oriented to the awareness and experience of positive ethnic identity, clear ethnic self-identification, manifestation of trust to “other” ethnic group, strengthening of civic identity. We used the model of general cultural training with specific-cultural elements, because the accent was made on the self-awareness of every training participant as representatives - of ethnos and culture. Then we went over the analysis of differences between cultures, and finally, to the development of skills of entering into the differences of ethnic groups. In the affective sphere the training was directed to the positive emotional relation/attitude to “our” and “other” ethnic groups. In the behavioral aspect, the intercultural training helped to develop skills necessary for efficient interaction with representatives of other cultures. As a result of our elaborated program on ethno-cultural competence and ethnic tolerance in Gagauz and Bulgarian students we determined: the emphasis of positive the valence of ethnic identity happened on the basis of/ due to the increase of interest of the members of experimental group to the cultural heritage of their ethnic group and other ethnic groups; the emphasis of optimism regarding the inter-group interaction happened on the basis of the increase of trust of the experimental group members to “other” ethnic groups through the development of conflict competence, overcoming negative ethnic stereotypes and prejudices, as well as manifestation of ethnic tolerance. Generally, the system of training courses on developing the ethno-cultural competence and ethnic tolerance of students is valid, but the given system of courses needs the further development for its improvement and testing on various ethnic groups.
