The present article aims at taking into discussion the ethical dimension of the memoir, proving that the ethical dangers of this genre come from the fact that it is deep-rooted in the real world and consequently makes certain kinds of truth claims. Thus, the authors of memoirs assume two kinds of obligations: to the historical or biographical evidence and to the people they portray and, consequently, should not admit any falsifications in order to avoid serious consequences. |
