in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease in combination with levodopa/carbidopa to treat the symptoms of end-of-dose "wearing-off" effect [1]. Considering that new formulations are researched constantly, proper knowledge of the active pharmaceutical ingredients is crucial in the pre-formulation stages [2]. a b Thermoanalytical curves TG/DTG/HF (a) and UATR spectrum of entacapone (b) In order to fully characterize the analysed compound and determine its thermal behaviour three methods—two integral, (Flynn–Wall–Ozawa, FWO and Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose, KAS) and one differential (Friedman) – were used. The thermoanalytical curves were registered at five different heating rates: β=5, 7, 10, 12 and 15 °C min-1. In order to confirm the purity of the analysed samples, the FTIR spectra entacapone was drawn up and is presented above [3]. |
