The purpose of this research aims to investigate the correlations among the security dimension, the principle of neutrality at the current stage, the maintaining or abandoning it in the context of an enhanced cooperation with NATO. The researcher considers that the experience of the European countries in terms of neutrality is varied; that was acquired during the history in particular geopolitical conjunctions. The status of neutrality is approached on a multi-layered basis with reference to certain models and related to a range of the political, security, theoretical perspectives. The main idea of this article has two dimensions and consists of the identifying the opportunities or constraints during the resizing of the cooperation forms with NATO and consequences, which could led to redefining the status of neutrality by transforming that condition according to new geopolitical context. The author approached the issue of the security ensuring of the states in post-neutrality period, mentioning some political projects with a pragmatic essence: Austria – “from neutrality to solidarity”, Sweden – “from neutrality to mutual responsibility”, Ireland – “from neutrality to post-neutrality” and Finland – “from neutrality to non-alignment”. |
