Rezumat | ||||||
This article describes priority health risks caused by low intensity harmful environmental factors (natural sources of ionizing radiation) and experimental methodology of their measurement. Thus the basic purpose of this article is to inform the scientists of Republic of Moldova about environmental risk factors especially within the dwellings, which could influence the health and what are the experimental measurement methods for their continuous monitoring. This article summarizes the current knowledge of the instrumental and laboratory methodology for measuring the natural sources of ionizing radiations: natural radionuclides (232Th, 226Ra and 40K) in building materials, food, drinking water etc.; radon concentrations and its short-lived descendants (220Rn, 218Po, 214Pb, 214Bi and 214Po) in indoor air at homes and work places; external gamma background with α + β natural radiation detection. Knowledge and application of the experimental methods of measuring the ionizing radiation from natural sources is a priority of the public health. |
