The purpose of this article is to present the preliminary results of dosimetric, radiometric and spectrometric measurements and to estimate the population exposure to irradiation risk in the high risk areas from the main natural sources of ionizing radiation. This article summarise the need to improve perception of the population about existing situation on the main natural sources of environmental ionizing radiation and their concentration values, the potential risk associated with exposure to high concentrations of environmental natural radionuclides (226Ra, 232Th and 40K), fund gamma, as well as radon (222Rn) and its short life products from indoor air of dwellings and production space. Studying the average values of 222Rn activity in the indoor air of residential rooms and partially ones for the production, it was found high concentrations which depends on their location: in the basement rooms (550–700 Bq/m3), followed by rooms located at the semi-basement (200–450 Bq/m3), private houses with 1 level (150–250 Bq/m3). In the block type rooms on the ground floor and above, the 222Rn concentrations were 20–110 Bq/m3. Knowing the measurements results, investigations and the preliminary assessments allow flnally evaluations to appreciate the real threat of these risk factors and to elaborate the appropriate protective measures.. |
