The Fallow Deer (Dama dama L., 1758) in the Constanţa County (Romania). In order to enrich the hunting stock, diversify the mammalian fauna and use the County’s physical-geographical potential, the Fallow Deer was being colonised in three stages (1981, 1984 and 1987). This Mediterranean mammal was introduced in two sites: in the Decebal Forest (35 km SW of Cernavodă Town, near Ion Corvin Commune) and in the Băneasa-Iortmac area. The first specimens were brought in from the counties of Arad Argeş and Olt. The maximum number of the effective was recorded in 1989 (150 individuals), but over the past few years, the population has cropped to 35 specimens.
