Good governance is the process whereby public institutions perform public activities, manage public resources and guarantee respect for human rights in a manner free of abuse and corruption, paying particular attention to the rule of law. To achieve good governance, public authorities should focus on eight key dimensions: supremacy of law, participation, orientation to consensus, accountability, transparency, responsiveness, effectiveness and efficiency, equity and inclusion. Each of the eight dimensions are important in the process of government and are to ensure a decent standard of living for the population.
