Mircea Eliade restored through characters a living world of eternal
in which they are reborn. The male character, Allan, is going through a long spiritual and mental metamorphosis, even through a physical one. And India, which he came to civilize, charms him by her archetypal images in which he recognizes his being. The surrounding world emphasizes the anamnesia, triggering memories of the collective unconscious flow. Consequently, he listens to the voice inside, and discovers the absolute reality of who he tried
to escape. He finds peace in Maitreyi woman, who manages to destroy the duality of animaanimus through an erotic – mystical ritual. |
