<description xml:lang='en' descriptionType='Abstract'>In August 1518, during the reign of Ştefăniţă vodă (1517-1527), the Tartar army invaded Moldavia. This historical event lacks a profound scientific research; besides, it is described very differently in Romanian historiography. This study, based on a thorough examination of vintage historical sources, outlines an overview of historical-military aspect of the war: it marks the geographical area where the war unfolded, assesses the military
commitment of both armies, restores the main chronological events, identifies the location of the decisive battle, restores the battle plan. This research places the battle of Ştefăneşti among the most brilliant battles of the Moldovan army, which must take its justly deserved place in the annals, history and military art books.</description>
