Notre article vise à mettre en évidence que, située au confluent de plusieurs cultures,l’oeuvre de Benjamin Fondane, écrite en langue française, porte les hiéroglyphes de diverses sédimentations symboliques et thématiques. Dans une première partie, nous montrerons que les vers d’Eminescu ont été réénoncés et disséminés, de manière occulte, dans sa propre poésie. Le chant éminescien va donc résonner en français mais surtout une telle transposition va nous offrir la lecture qu’en a faite Fondane, et en particulier de Luceafărul. Dans une deuxième partie, nous nous interrogerons sur la présence – dans cette même poésie – d’une légende du folklore roumain, la légende de Meşterul Manole. Nous en détecterons des vestiges indiciels dans différents textes fondaniens pour remonter au mythe du sacrifice de fondation dont ils constituent une émanation textuelle.

This essay aims to demonstrate that Benjamin Fondane’s body of work, situated as it is at the crossroads of numerous cultures, yet written in French, bears within itself hieroglyphs of diverse symbolic and thematic layers. In the first part, we show how Eminescu’s verse becomes re–enunciated and disseminated, in a hidden manner, within Fondane’s poetry. Eminescu’s song thus comes to resound in French, and this transposition presents to us Fondane’s very own reading, especially that of Luceafărul. In the second part we inquire into the presence — within this same poetry — of a legend from Romanian folklore, the legend of Meşterul Manole. We find indexical vestiges of it within different texts by Fondane thus leading back to the myth of foundation sacrifices of which they constitute a textual emanation.
