<description xml:lang='en' descriptionType='Abstract'>Malignant melanoma remains one of the most dangerous human malignancies. Modern epidemiologic research shows an increase of melanoma incidence on all continents. On a global scale melanoma has the 15-th and 16-th place in females and males respectively. Each year about 100 new cases of melanoma are registered in Moldova. The study of
recent years shows a doubling of cases of melanoma. The rate of growth of incidence of melanoma is 30% greater than for other malignancies. Most of the patients are 50 years
or older, with a growth after 70 years. The rate of growth of incidence and mortality due to melanoma imposes a need of further study of this malignancy.</description>
