The article examines this type of song folklore, widespread among the Gagauz people of Moldova, as spiritual poetry. The concepts of “good” and “evil”, “righteousness” and “sin” are considered, as well as the religious ideas of the Gagauz people, reflected in songs based on New Testament themes. The analyzed song lyrics were recorded personally by the author among the Gagauz people of Moldova during field research in 2000–2011. It is noted that songs of religious content are almost never found among the Gagauz people of Bulgaria. A conclusion is made about the time of origin of this type of song among the Gagauz people of Moldova. |
