Rezumat

Various creative imaginations and parallels have been attempted to convey the beauty features of the idealized lover type in classical Arabic, Persian, and Turkish literature. In this context, characteristics of the adored or beautiful body, such as height, hair, face, cheeks, lips, brows, eyelashes, mouth, feathers, mole, chin, teeth, ear, neck, and waist, have emerged in the lyrical expression of love. The phrases müje, müjgân, and hüdüb/hüdb refer to the lover's/beauty's eyelashes, which are one of the elements expressing the states of love in the semantic universe of classical poetry. In the semantic world of the poems, the concept of eyelashes is analogous to war equipment such as arrows, swords, and daggers that injure and endanger the lover's life. Additionally, eyelashes are dark, long, and shiny. The theme of eyelashes was used not only for images of lovers but also for their states. Connotations in this context include the lover utilizing his eyelashes as a broom to serve at the beloved's door, as well as spilling crimson tears from his eyelashes/eyes during the course of love. In this paper, the usage of the concept of eyelashes in the poems of Hâfız-ı Şîrâzî, one of the peak poets of the 14th century, is included. The poet used the concept of eyelashes in both the lover type and the beloved type. Eyelashes are shown in the poetry as a beauty feature associated with the beloved. In this regard, after providing information about eyelashes, one of the beautiful parts of the lover, comparisons and ideas about eyelashes in Hâfız-ı Şîrâzî's Divan were discussed.
