Acquiring new vocabulary is a basic element in learning a foreign language. Much attention was paid towards the investigation of effective vocabulary learning strategies, because of the immense importance for developing reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. The article reflects famous researchers’ approaches to the definition of vocabulary and describes some vocabulary development techniques conducted by some scholars in relevant fields. The article is an attempt to prove the hypothesis about effectively of vocabulary development methods in enhancing learners’ ability to discover the meanings of unknown words and easily assimilate them that will definitely contribute to expanding and enriching their vocabulary.
