Rezumat

In context with Ludwig von Bertalanfly’s theory, the stomatognathic system is characterized by the correlation between structure-function and integrity. Exceeding individual physiological tolerance and / or structural-specific tolerance of systemic elements may be a cause of orthopedic instability.Lack of harmony between morphological and functional factors, which govern the activity of the stomatognathic system can affect dental occlusion, temporo-mandibular joint, masticatory and cervico-scapular muscles. The clinical and paraclinical evaluation of the presence or absence of orthopedic instability needs to be confirmed or refuted, following the wearing of occlusal splints. The aim of the research is the elaboration of curative-diagnostic procedures with the preestablishment of the therapeutic objectives and the selection of the efficient methods of complex treatment. The criteria for evaluating the therapeutic success or failure were based on the dynamics of the evolution of the dysfunctional symptomatology, in correlation with the dynamics of the values of the paraclinical parameters. The specificity and sensitivity of paraclinical methods influenced the veracity of the diagnosis and the effectiveness of the treatment applied. Along with these particularities, patient satisfaction was assessed, in accordance with the accepted methodology.
