The rule of law and democracy remain a major objective on the agenda of the government in the Republic of Moldova, even though the country has benefited from the support of external partners, programs and projects on legislative reform, justice reform, eradication of corruption etc. Despite the efforts made, we understand that, at the moment, revisions are needed, both in the format in which the concept of rule of law has been understood and the formula in which it has been promoted and practiced. In our opinion, a reorientation towards the fundamental values of the concept is required, in order to develop mechanisms capable of guiding the reform in this field and of avoiding slips. To this end, beyond learning from the experiences of other countries and best practices in this area, we must also look at the lessons that have not yet been learned. In particular, we need a new way of organizing the work of legal institutions, but perhaps even more a new way of designing the professional training of lawyers. The tendency to change the format in which the work of law institutions is carried out, given the multiple criticisms to which they are subject, outlines a revision of the emphasis in the process of professional training of lawyers, perhaps even by refocusing assistance on this priority.
