In contemporary literature over the last 10-15 years, in Romania and abroad, the concept of stress has been the subject of extensive research on various aspects of stress, such as the causes, the physiological and psychological mechanisms involved, the impact of acute stress on the physical and mental health of patients in a hospital environment, and methods for its effective management. In Romania, Popa’s (2018) study, “Acute stress in the context of major surgery: clinical implications and intervention strategies”, analysed acute stress experienced by patients before, during and after major surgery, investigating the psychological and physiological factors involved in acute stress and proposed therapeutic interventions to reduce it. In the Republic of Moldova, Plugaru’s (2015) study, “Acute stress in the preoperative period in patients in the Republic of Moldova”, examined the level of acute stress experienced by patients in the preoperative period, the impact of stress on surgical outcomes, proposing methods to manage it. In the foreign literature, Cohen et al.’s (2014) study “Acute Stress Responses in the Emergency Department” investigated acute stress responses experienced by patients in emergency departments. |
