Mother’s role manifests itself through a change in the value and moral orientation, but also in the emotional sphere, which leads to a change in the woman's personality during pregnancy and childbirth and anticipates the appearance of maternal functions. The normal evolution of the birth process depends on the psychological state of the woman before pregnancy. Multiple psychological and emotional factors can cause different complications during birth and lead to the degradation of obstetric and perinatal outcomes. The preconceptional counseling of a pregnant woman allows the reduction and the overcome of these factors, being an effective way to prevent the complications and to improve the results of the birth. This study was concluded involving a questionnaire for postpartum women. The questionnaire included general and special questions. In the study participated 299 women, who were monitored during pregnancy, in almost all regions of the Republic of Moldova. The obtained data was analyzed with SPSS Statistics V23. The results were presented in figures, tables and representative schemes. 70% of the surveyed women, feared the process of birth (and participated in the preconceptional counseling program to overcome the fears) p = 0.166. In 1/3 of the surveyed women (33%) the pregnancy was not planned, despite this fact, the majority of the pregnant women (90.3%) settled at the antenatal medical surveillance in the first trimester of pregnancy - up to 12 weeks (10,2 ± 3.1 weeks). Only ¼ of the questioned women (23.7%) attended the courses for preconceptiona counseling of the pregnant woman, of which they passed the full program of 4 sessions - 14.1% pregnant women. The main leader in the training process was the obstetrician-gynecologist in 79% cases. The quality of the training was appreciated by women in 97.6% as efficient, the quality of the organization in 85% cases was reported as good and very good. This study proved the effectiveness of preconceptional counseling program for pregnancy. There was a tendency of decreasing the number of complications at birth (obstetric trauma, insufficient contraction forces, request for laboranalgesia) in women who attended preconceptional counseling lessons, compared to unprepared pregnant women.
